EthioSkills is a national initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Labor and Skills (MoLS) to enhance vocational education and promote skills excellence across Ethiopia. It serves as a strategic platform to recognize, celebrate, and empower skilled talent, while highlighting the critical role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in building a prosperous and self-reliant nation. At the core of the initiative is the annual National Skills Competition for TVET trainees, where participants from all regions of the country demonstrate their expertise across a wide range of skill categories. Outstanding performers are given the opportunity to represent Ethiopia on the global stage at the prestigious WorldSkills Competition, often referred to as the "Skills Olympics." In addition to the skills competitions for trainees, EthioSkills also introduces a platform for technological and applied research competitions involving both TVET trainers and trainees. This component aims to foster innovation and promote cutting-edge applied research within the TVET sector. As WorldSkills is a globally recognized organization committed to elevating the status of skilled professionals and demonstrating the vital role of skills in driving economic development, innovation, and personal success. Aligned with this mission, Ethiopia is strengthening the quality and global competitiveness of its TVET system through the EthioSkills Competitions, a structured progression that begins at the TVET college level, advances through cluster and regional stages, and culminates at the national level.
